Richard serves as the Higher Education Southwest Regional Practice Leader for Perkins+Will and works in our Dallas office. With more than 30 years of experience in all phases of higher education projects, Richard is instrumental in the planning and design of innovative and sustainable educational environments. He is respected for listening to the owner's needs and responding with thoughtful and creative solutions, Richard brings a valuable perspective to clients assisting them with maximizing improvement opportunities through informed facility decisions. With an emphasis on consensus building, programming, pre-design, facility planning and project delivery, he has been responsible for the completion of over 30 major projects at 20 separate institutions. Under Richard’s leadership, his projects have been recognized with over 20 awards for excellence in planning and design including the award-winning Richland College, Sabine Hall Science Building and University of Texas at Dallas, Student Services Building, first LEED Platinum Certified higher education building in the state of Texas.

Richard attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Richard was recently elected to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows in 2014. He is an active member of AIA Dallas and serves on the Board of Directors as the Director of Advocacy. Richard is a published author and regularly presents on topics addressing creative planning solutions for the critical issues currently being faced by educators.
